In a devastating turn of events, Brazilian influencer Luana Andrade, aged 29, passed away on November 7, just a day after undergoing knee liposuction in a São Paulo hospital.
The procedure, aimed at achieving a more contoured appearance, was performed by a private doctor and anesthetist hired by Andrade's family, as confirmed by São Luiz Hospital.
Reports indicate that approximately two and a half hours post-surgery, Andrade experienced cardiac arrest, prompting the interruption of the procedure.
The hospital released a statement revealing that subsequent tests uncovered a massive thrombosis. Efforts were made to stabilize Andrade through medication and hemodynamic treatment after she was transferred to the ICU.
Tragically, despite medical interventions, Andrade was pronounced dead at 5:30 am on Tuesday. The cause of her untimely demise was identified as pulmonary embolism, a condition where a blood clot obstructs blood flow to an artery in the lung.
