Wockhardt Hospitals' proactive approach to India's diabetes epidemic unveils a beacon of hope through its newly established Diabetes Support Group and specialized surgical clinics.

India's increasing concerns over being labeled the 'Diabetes Capital of the World,' Wockhardt Hospitals at Mira Road has taken a significant step by establishing a Diabetes Support Group.
The initiative, unveiled during an event attended by 300 diabetes patients and community leaders, aims to tackle the specific needs and complications associated with diabetes while providing a platform for knowledge-sharing and mutual support.
This newly formed Diabetes Support Group seeks to cater to the expanding diabetic population, offering a space for individuals to glean insights from medical experts and receive essential support on their journey toward improved health.
The event also introduced two essential surgical clinics: Diabetes & Metabolic Surgery and Diabetic Foot Surgery.
The gathering included prominent medical experts such as Dr Jinendra Jain, Dr Aniket Mule, Dr Anup Taksande, Dr Chetan Bhambure, Dr Ashish Mishra, Dr Pavan Pai, Dr Puneet Bhuwania, Dr Ramen Goel, Dr Rajiv Manek, Dr Shraddha Deshpande, and Dr Riya Desai.
Dr Ramen Goel, Consultant – Diabetes and Metabolic Surgeon at Wockhardt Hospitals, emphasized the severity of diabetes, highlighting its detrimental impact on various organs and the critical need for timely diagnosis. The hospital's comprehensive facility adopts a multidisciplinary approach, offering long-term care with specialists in various fields including Diabetologists, Endocrinologists, Diabetic Foot Surgeons, Nephrologists, Neurologists, Cardiologists, Interventional Neurologists, and Dietitians. Dr Goel also introduced keyhole gastrointestinal surgery as a life-changing procedure for achieving long-term control over Type II Diabetes, emphasizing the significance of lifestyle changes like regular exercise and a healthy diet.
