Tata Memorial Centre (TMC), operating under the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with GE HealthCare Technologies to establish a state-of-the-art Cancer Research & Innovation Centre. This strategic partnership will see GE HealthCare serve as the technology partner, while TMC leads clinical oncology efforts. The collaboration aims to advance cancer research, foster academic initiatives, and outline a five-year roadmap through a newly formed Joint Working Group.

India faces a growing cancer burden, with nearly 100 individuals per lakh diagnosed and a projected 12.8% increase in cases by 2025. This rising trend highlights the urgent need for innovative, AI-powered healthcare solutions.

Dr. C.S. Pramesh, Director at Tata Memorial Hospital, emphasized the importance of early detection and equitable access, acknowledging that despite government initiatives, gaps remain. GE HealthCare's expertise in precision-led cancer solutions, powered by AI and digital tools, will play a crucial role in addressing these challenges.

Chaitanya Sarawate, GE HealthCare South Asia’s CEO, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting every stage of cancer care—from detection to treatment—by integrating AI, advanced imaging, and digital platforms. The collaboration will focus on the development of medical imaging tools, clinical workflow enhancements, and data-driven innovations to transform personalized cancer care and improve patient outcomes.
