The Police Parade Ground in Surat witnessed a remarkable gathering of over seven thousand yoga enthusiasts who converged to partake in the practice of the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) from 7:00 AM onwards. The event served as a vibrant celebration of the profound benefits of yoga in enhancing personal and societal well-being.

Distinguished guests including Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary of the Ministry of Ayush; Shri Satyajit Paul, Deputy Director General of the Ministry of Ayush; Prof. Avinash Chandra Pandey, Director of the Inter-University Accelerator Centre, New Delhi and Inter-University Centre for Yogic Sciences, Bengaluru; and Vaidya Dr. Kashinath Samagandi, Director of Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY), graced the occasion, reaffirming their commitment to promoting holistic wellness through yoga.

Vaidya Kotecha expressed his delight at the gathering for the 'Yoga Mahotsav' in Surat, highlighting yoga's growing global prominence. He noted that during International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2023, more than 23.5 crore people worldwide participated in yoga sessions.
Dr. Kashinath Samagandi, Director of MDNIY, commenced the event with a warm welcome address, emphasizing the pivotal role of Yoga Mahotsav in paving the way for International Day of Yoga 2024 (IDY-2024) celebrations.

The event featured a live demonstration of the Common Yoga Protocol led by practitioners from the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, showcasing their expertise in various yoga practices. Enthusiastic participants actively engaged in the demonstration, following the prescribed yoga routines outlined in the Common Yoga Protocol.

The Ministry of Ayush, in collaboration with MDNIY, is spearheading a series of Mass Yoga Demonstrations and sessions as part of the '100 Days, 100 Cities, and 100 Organizations' campaign, dedicated to commemorating IDY-2024.

The Yoga Mahotsav in Surat served as a testament to the growing popularity and significance of yoga in promoting holistic well-being. As the world gears up to celebrate International Day of Yoga, events like these continue to inspire individuals to embrace yoga as a path to wellness and harmony.
