Royal Philips has commenced the groundbreaking ceremony for a new Research and Development (R&D) center to expand its Healthcare Innovation Centre (HIC) in Pune, Maharashtra.

Situated in a 10-acre plot in MIDC, Chinchwad, the upcoming facility will feature an office space spanning approximately 300,000 sq. ft in its first phase and will accommodate 1900 employees.

Scheduled to be operational within two years, the new center will house R&D teams from Philips' Image Guided Therapy, Precision Diagnosis, Monitoring, and Sleep & Respiratory businesses. By consolidating all teams in one location, Philips aims to optimize for scale, speed, and efficiency, facilitating resource sharing and best practice dissemination across business units.

Focused on pioneering health technologies, the new center aligns with Philips' global mission to enhance the lives of 2.5 billion people annually by 2030.

Bert van Meurs, Executive Vice President and Chief Business Leader of Image Guided Therapy, and interim Chief Business Leader of Precision Diagnosis, underscored Philips' commitment to innovation and its dedication to supporting the Indian healthcare ecosystem. He highlighted the new center's role in delivering innovative and sustainable solutions for both Indian and global markets.
Peeyush Kaushik, Vice President and Head of Healthcare Innovation Center, Pune, emphasized the center's pivotal role in addressing healthcare challenges in India and beyond. He emphasized that the new facility will enable the design of more innovative end-to-end solutions and foster better collaboration with healthcare providers, aligning with the common goal of achieving improved health outcomes.

The establishment of the new R&D center reflects Philips' ongoing commitment to innovation and its endeavor to leverage technology to address healthcare challenges, ultimately contributing to better health outcomes for individuals worldwide.
