After a conflict-induced injury, a young man's life was restored through a six-hour emergency surgery at KIMSHEALTH Thiruvananthapuram.

A young man was saved after a six-hour emergency surgery at KIMSHEALTH Thiruvananthapuram. He was mistakenly stabbed in his right thigh, causing artery and vein severing and stopping his heart.
The patient's heartbeat was restored with CPR and a blood transfusion. After emergency surgery, surgeons reconstructed the artery and vein using a left leg vein, improving the patient's condition and restoring mobility in the injured leg.
Dr Rinett Sebastian KV, Cardiothoracic Surgeon, KIMSHEALTH, who led the surgery, said,
“The young man was brought back to life through timely and expert intervention. In such situations, there is a high risk of brain death in case the treatment gets delayed.”
This treatment also involved the participation of Dr. S Subash and Dr. Swapna Sasidharan, who are Consultants in Cardiothoracic Anesthesia, along with Dr. Sanoop Koshy, a Consultant in General Surgery, and Dr. Shalini S, a Consultant in the Emergency Medicine Department.
