Godrej Supports Maharashtra in Vector-borne Disease Prevention

Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL) has collaborated with the Centre for Health Research and Innovation (CHRI-PATH) and Family Health India (FH India) to provide support to the Directorate of Health Services, Government of Maharashtra in their efforts to eliminate malaria and prevent and control diseases like Dengue and Chikungunya.
The program will focus on districts like Gadchiroli, Chandrapur, and Thane-Palghar in Maharashtra, which are grappling with vector-borne diseases.
To achieve their goals, the program will appoint state-level experts and district-level human resources to strengthen surveillance, enhance case reporting, and improve clinical management. This collective effort was underscored at the launch event, attended by various stakeholders and government officials.
Dr. Sarnikar, Joint Director of Health from the Public Health Department of Maharashtra, emphasized the need to invest in technology and prevention methods to combat these diseases and applauded the collaboration.
Godrej's Head of CSR & Sustainability, Gayatri Divecha, highlighted the importance of partnerships with government entities and expressed gratitude for the commitment of the Government of Maharashtra to working towards the elimination of malaria by 2030.
Dr. Satyabrata Routray, Director of Infectious Diseases at CHRI, stressed the importance of integrated vector management and outbreak investigation in addressing the changing dynamics of vector-borne diseases.
Dr. Bitra George, Director of Family Health India, underlined their commitment to providing support for achieving the goal of malaria elimination by 2030 through various initiatives in collaboration with health authorities and GCPL.
