Function Health, a health tech startup, raises $53M in Series A funding to scale its biomarker lab testing services, offering comprehensive health insights and personalized medicine solutions.

Function Health, a pioneering health tech startup, has raised $53 million in a Series A funding round. The round was led by Andreessen Horowitz's Bio + Health fund, with additional support from the a16z Cultural Leadership Fund. Notable backers include celebrities like Matt Damon, Kevin Hart, Zac Efron, Pedro Pascal, and athletes such as Joel Embiid and Blake Griffin. Wellness experts like Levels co-founder Dr. Casey Means and former Oura CEO Harpreet Singh Rai also contributed, alongside Equinox chairman Harvey Spevak.

This funding marks a significant milestone for Function Health, which aims to empower individuals to take control of their health. The startup plans to scale its technology and expand access to its biomarker lab testing services.

Function Health's mission is to enable people to live healthier lives over 100 years. Co-founder and CEO Jonathan Swerdlin emphasized, “We’re introducing a revolutionary approach to lifelong health, starting with the most comprehensive lab testing to help you understand what’s actually happening inside your body and what to do to stay ahead of disease and feel your best.”

The platform offers over 100 lab tests covering areas such as heart health, thyroid function, hormonal balance, brain health, cancer markers, and fertility assessments. This comprehensive offering is five times more extensive than a typical physical examination, providing actionable insights from doctors for $499 annually or $42 monthly.

Function Health ensures that members can track health trends over time and easily share results with healthcare providers. Members have the flexibility to re-test at minimal costs and can opt for non-routine tests (like Lyme disease, STDs, and allergies) as needed. The platform also integrates cutting-edge developments in testing, such as early detection for multiple types of cancer.

Swerdlin highlighted the limitless possibilities for Function Health, positioning it beyond traditional healthcare systems but supported by top medical professionals and experts. The platform aims to redefine health management by leveraging advanced technology and empowering individuals to proactively manage their well-being.
