Aster Medcity, a unit of Aster DM healthcare collaborated between its neurosurgery and urology departments to conduct the first sacral nerve surgery in Kerala. The surgery aimed to give relief from frequent urination caused by an overactive bladder through the implementation of advanced Sacral Neuromodulation Surgery. Aster Medcity did the surgery on Hariharan, a young man whose life and work were affected by this condition.

Hariharan sought treatment at Aster Medcity, where he encountered Dr. Kishore T.A, Senior Consultant in Urology. The urology team at Aster Medcity actively researched alternative treatment options. Dr. Sandeep Prabhakaran, Senior Consultant and Program Director in LASER Endourology, concluded that InterStim Implantation Surgery could effectively reverse the disease when medications proved ineffective.

The surgical implantation of InterStim coordinates the sacral nerves responsible for bowel and bladder functions. The urology and neurosurgery departments collaborated to place InterStim. Temporary testing was performed before the permanent implantation was done. After the successful trial, InterStim was permanently implanted in Hariharan's body.
